Old Buck Sheaths - made where?

After an extensive search on this forum, I can't find a definative answer as to where the black Buck sheaths (specifically sheaths for the 100 Series, 110, 112 of the 70s and 80s) were made before the production moved to Mexico. If they were in fact made in the U.S., were they made at the Buck factory or contracted out? If contracted out, who made them?

I recently purchased an older 501 sheath for my 319 for times when I don't feel like the bulk in my pocket. After wet forming, the knife fits in the sheath like they were made for eachother. Has anyone else paired up a mismatched knife and sheath that works well together?

The sheaths have been in and out sense the beginning of time. In the 70s and 80s the sheaths were in house.

"Sheaths:
A. Angeles Souvenir—late 1962 to late 1967. Thin leather, BUCK on snap, no rivets, no model number.
B. Atcheson Leather—late 1967 to early 1969. Leather, BUCK on flap, Model #, tooling lines and dimple rivet on belt loop.
C. Buck leather shop—started early 1969.
1) Leather, BUCK on snap & flap, tooling lines on belt loop. Used maybe 2 years?
2) Leather, BUCK on snap and flap, plain belt loop, model # on back."

Thanks Dave, There is one discrepancy in the above post. You have the C#1 as a Buck leather shop sheath and the sheaths with the tooling down the belt loop was an Atcheson produced sheath circa 1967-'69 after 1969 the tooling was removed by the Buck leather shop.

Just noticed another problem, the early Atcheson sheaths didn't have model # on them. I'm not exactly sure when the model # was added but I have both. The Atcheson sheaths with and without model #s.

Matt, I'm not personally responsible for ANY INFO in my other post. That was a direct cut and past from Joe's sticky at the top of the page.

The sticky probably needs to be updated. The BCCI Cd's you have, has a section where they and the boxes are discussed by Joe and this information has been talked about before in other threads. No worries though, info is always changing and new info comes up.

Model # didn't show up on factory knives until the 1972 inverted blade stamp, so they couldn't be on sheaths. Like I said the sticky just needs up dating.

jockey, looks like you discovered that a 3 7/8" 300 series knife fits nicely in a 501 sheath before I did.

Thanks Dave for the sheath info. I didn't think to look in that thread.

ed, your 112 looks sharp in that 111 sheath.

I'm kind of particular about my accessories, I want matching #'s, I'm funny like that...

I'm with ya, mb. The 501 sheath is unmarked, so there are no mismatched numbers with the 319.
