Old Bush Ranger question

Have had an AUS8A Bush Ranger for many years, but it didn't come with a box. Been looking for one with the box ever since. Have seen many Carbon V versions with boxes on eBay, but think I had only seen one AUS8A version with box, until now...just received one that I won.

The question is, is it normal for it to have this smaller inner box? It was not shown or mentioned in the listing, and don't think I've ever seen it with any of the CV Bush Rangers I've seen. I am used to the older Trail Masters that have an inner box/sleeve that just fits inside the outer box to stiffen it up, but this thing is much smaller than the outer box. So wondering if it is supposed to be like this, or if it was just something the seller threw in there?

That certainly is different. As you mentioned the Trail Masters came in an inner sleeve/box but those had the knife in the sheath which was made from codura. This Bush Ranger has a leather sheath so maybe the knife was boxed in a smaller inner box so that the knife could be separated from the sheath preventing rust or corrosion.

I will also agree, never seen that type of inner box (with the staples on the end), and that it is smaller than the outside blue box. Maybe as you said - the seller added it. Ask the seller - would be nice to know.

The white box does seem to fit the Knife nicely. But a little small for the outer blue box; width and length wise ?

The length is close, maybe a 1/2" short...but as shown in the pic, the width and especially the height are way off.

Asked the seller, and he said it came that way from the factory...very strange

Cool. Very cool. Never seen that before. To me, I love the completeness of an original item. Some may not care if the plastic bags are included, or the red label on the handle . . . or a little white box inside the retail box. But to me - added value and cool factor x 10 !

I can't speak specifically to the packaging of the stainless Bush Ranger, as I've never owned one. But I can definitely attest to that stapled, white cardboard box construction as being legitimate Cold Steel packaging. I have several early products in boxes made identically. I believe the seller when he says he received it from Cold Steel like that.

The gap in size between inner and outer box is a bit puzzling. Just a guess, but probably that white box was in use for another product and just happened to fit the Bush Ranger, as well.

Nice score, by the way! Can we see the knife?

I have seen that type of inner box before also, can't remember what knife came in in it though. Good catch on a very rare knife, especially with the box.
