How do you find the value on old busses.
The straight handled stuff.
Steel heart, battle mistress, ba.

Search the exchange, ebay or if you see that someone has one make them an offer they cant refuse. Heres a secret for some of you new guys, some infi an only be gotten in trade.

All of those models have been on the exchange, but not so many Badgers. One problem with determining value is that there was some degree of variation among the older knives, some versions are worth more than others. So some good pics will help a lot. There are a few experts here on the market value. For the SHBM, talk to Cobalt. For SHSH, see Randucci or Mulder. For the SHBA, Mulder.

So, what are you selling? :D

prices for SH's have skyrocketed. To the point where I cannot even afford my own knives:D

Anyway, A bone stock coated SHBM in mint condition with hollow rivets was going for about $1150 and I just sold one to someone for that much, which was what I paid for it 4 months earlier. Recently there was someone wanting to sell one and I found him a buyer at a reasonable 1150, because the seller wanted the knife to go to someone who wold keep it and not flip it, so I was who he contacted and I found the buyer, so I was the broker. This is the cheapest of SHBM's. users typically would go for about $200 less.

Wish I knew.

Do a little research on the exchange and contact a few of the old guard HOGs (not me I'm still a piglet) that will give you real and fair values.

I have not been seeing a difference between gently used and "as new" for some time.

Real beaters with major coating wear and or nicks in the blade seem to be a little less.

So far as the Big three, SHBM,SHSH,SHBA are concerned.

Edited to add,

Ganza knives seem to be cheaper than the Original knives.

Jeff, I thought we all had a similar discussion about a year ago.

Were you never able to get a sense of value?

you just need to be specific with your search terms, in this case "slotted" or "bolt"

heres a valid set of sales for shbm, shsh, and shshII's. slotted screw/bolt shba's are pretty dang rare, so good luck getting priceing examples on it. i'd assume 750-1000$.

these prices are rough guidelines. you may find people who will pay 25% more then whats shown here, and you may find that theres no market when you try to sell.

Is this going to be an annual event, checking in to see what your knives are worth?

it's not a bad thing to have a revolving sale price catalog.

it wouldn't be that bad of a thing to have a chart of sale prices from month to month for each model either.

since i'm completely broke and will be for the next 1-3 years it doesn't do me any good, but its fun all the same :)

and seriously, it only takes about 10 minutes to go through all of the sales that have "shsh" or "shbm" or "slotted" in them.
