I have an older knife that is my grandfathers if im not mistaken.
It looks like a pick bone handle material wit a USA sheild on the side.
Is there any way to date this knife? It also has a very different can opener style.
any help would be greatly app.

Thanks,
Sean

Your knife is a WWII era 4 blade utility knife. The "U.S.A." stamping on the shield stands for United States Army. The old U shaped can-opener removed the lid on a metal can by using an upward stroke that left exposed sharp edges. This style can-opener was used through the end of WWII when it was replaced with the more modern design that is still used today. E-mail me your postal mailing address and I will send you copies of our records.
