I'm fairly clueless on the topic of traditional folders. My brother approached me with this used but very nice old Case that he found at a yard sale and could at least tell it was nicely made. I concur! But what is this thing?

Any and all info appreciated :)

It's a Case Copperlock. It's a Copperhead design that locks closed, hence the name Copperlock.

Let us know how many dots are stamped under the Case tang stamp and we'll tell you what year it was made.

It is a Case copperlock. Good knife to own. Looks like Chestnut bone handles. Can't see to tell year made, looks like late 90's or early 2000's.

As usual, you guys are awesome.

Rare/collectible? I'm wondering if I should convince him to trade it to me for one of my modern folders to assure he doesn't sell it to buy his girlfriend a Beiber iPhone case. Haha

The Copperlock was first introduced by Case as a new pattern in '97. So late '90s or later is .

(BTW, can't tell the size from the pics. But, depending on the size, it may also be a 'Mini Copperlock'. Same knife, but smaller. The pattern# on the back of the tang can clarify as to which. If it shows '61549L' --> Copperlock; and if '61749L' --> Mini Copperlock.)
