Hi all, Cold steel made a San-Mai 3 voyager with a soft kraton handle before the current series. Anyone have the proper name, model number or pictures of it? It was a sweet knife. It came in three sizes with a nylon 2 way belt sheth. A friend of mine had one long ago. Thank you, John.

I thought those were still considered a Shinobo (or something like that), as were the tanto variants.

You wouldn't be thinking of the old Clip Mate series, would you? I have one of the smaller ones with a San Mai blade... prolly from about 1988, IIRC? Sounds a bit like what you are describing.

No it was between the shinobu and the voyager, not as custom as the shinobu but not as production as the voyager. It looked like the voyager but had a san-mai 3 blade and soft kraton handle like the tanto. Tough good looking knife but was expensive for its time, I think about $130.00 in the late 80's. I would imagin thats why they discontinued it and went with the current voyagers. Thanks, John.

That would be the Clip Mate series.

The Shinobu was no different except for the tanto-ground blade.

All three were offered with San Mai III blades, back locks, Thermorun handles, and in three sizes. The Shinobu was also offered in an extremely small keychain variant with a blade lenght of about 1.5 inches.
