Old CQC-7 - when made?

Hi Folks -

I have an old CQC-7 that I "confiscated" from my son years ago when he was younger. My son is now 23 years old, but back in the day when he lived at home he was a hell raiser, and I took more than one weapon from him when he left them laying around the house.

I just found out that this old Emerson folder is a high-quality knife, and I wonder when this piece was made.

The markings on the blade are:

Emerson
Knives Inc.
U.S.A.
CQC-7 9 | 9 R

I have cleaned and sharpened the knife - and I like it, it is a nice piece.

Any info on the age would be appreciated.

That knife was made in 1999, the 99 under the USA in the logo is the year it was made.:thumbup:

No - this one I keep for all the trouble.

I confiscated this during my son's "pot dealing" years - and trust me, he won't get this one back (probaby was traded for pot to another kid who stole it from HIS old man...).

I have had it in the drawer for years - and I always thought it was just another el-cheapo folder.

Happily surprised.

Hi Guys -

I'll make good for the kid eventually. He is working now, and has a pretty good job at an O'Reilly's taking care of the commercial accounts.

He's the typical "not a bad kid" but just did the silly crap some teenage boys do.

At least he is happy and supporting himself now.

I have a nice Caterpillar branded folder for him for this Christmas - last year I got him a Case Christmas Trapper. Can't beat a good knife for a gift if you ask me.
