Old CR Logo question

I just acquired a numbered large decorated P sebenza dated 1994 and noticed that the CR logo is fully enclosed by a circle and other older P models I have owned do not have the outer circle.
The top knife is the 1994 version and the lower one is from 1995.

Can we assume that the logo changed right about the time that the numbering stopped, which I understand was at about 300?

thanks
dave

Very interesting, I just checked my collection and none of my older models have an encircled logo. This includes H 32 and P 34, and the SA 30 I have has a larger version of the logo in the center of the handle, no circle. None of these are decorated models.

They might have tried the circled logo for a time and dropped it, or maybe it was a decorated thing? I'm curious as well.

James,

Thanks for the reply, I figure if anyone would have seen this logo before it would have been you:)

I thought about what you said about the possibility of the circle being part of the decoration but as can be seen in the pic it would not fit in with the overall theme of the design.

BTW, I checked and this one also has black nylon washers.

It looks like we'll have to have Anne chime in on this one. Nice knife you scored there!

The fully-encircled logo is obviously a poor counterfeit attempt. Please send your bogus Sebenza to me for proper disposal!

BTW, until recently, I had P173 (not decorated) and it did not have the enclosed circle.

Sorry Matt, but I don't have any bogus sebbies to send you.
I do have a CRKT Sebenza but I will post in a seperate thread.

You may be right about the enclosed logo being a decorated only thing, James also suggested this. I would be interested to see another "P" numbered decorated model to compare.

Well, after news of the strange logo, Anne requested to see the knife in question so off to CRK it went.
After Chris examined it, he confirmed that he did the engraving work but is at a loss to explain exactly why the logo was done this way except to say that it may have been a first attempt to try something different.
A big thank you to Anne and Chris for taking the time from their busy schedule to answer my question.
