So in my old age I have taken up oil painting. I have always been a sketcher with a #2 pencil, but have never done any kind of color.

Attached is my total body of work to date, in order of completion. Might be good for some laughs, anyway. I didn't want to include that green landscape monstrosity, my first painting of any kind, but honesty compelled me to.

Andy, the fourth one is from the Tasmania picture you said I could use as a model. I'm sorry that I couldn't do it justice.











 
Nice work Mike! But...OLD??? Come ON, I'm right behind you, and only my grown kids are getting old!

You're never to young to Start Mike....Looks great...My mother is 89 and been doing this for 50 years so you have time keep it up...:thumbup:
 
Don't sell yourself short - not bad at all. And it's these undertakings that help keep you young...;-)
 
I like the first one a lot , makes me wonder what's around that turn , keep up the good work
 
Man those look great. I'm envious of your ability, I can't even draw a stick-person, ha!
 
Great work, Mike! It's so much better than what I could ever do LOL Art was not one of my favorite classes in school :D
 
Very impressive, especially for someone just starting out. Nicely done and while a bit shallow/2-D to start, we see you develop an ability to express depth/3-D shape as you progress and that appears to be quite quickly. Really like your color choice/use and, IMHO, your "still life"s are very good. My favorites of your work so far. Fewer objects and less overall detail in a still life allow you to spend more time per object, with its relationship with the other objects in frame, and to overall composition. Keep at this and you could, again IMHO, go quite a bit farther than you seem to feel yourself capable of at this time.
