Just spent a little time this morning cleaning up the one knife that is always with me on my hunting/camping trips.
This old boy has been around for many years and if knives could talk this is one you would want to sit around a campfire with.

I see it now. That's a big ol' knife! Is that the marine raider bowie? Good pirate knife!

Thanks for posting the photo. I plan to strip one of my 10's, so it's nice to see that it looks as great as I imagined.

I just gave it a fast once over with a few different grades of black sandpaper.
Imagine what it would look like if someone really took the time to shine her up.

I plan to etch the engraving before a chemical strip, then even the grinds with files and stones before putting the final polish with paper like you've done. I like the "brushed" look of properly finished steel with fine sandpaper. But I also like to look of a polished blade that's had layers of patina, so I'll have to cross that bridge when I get to it.

I'd like to see some before and after pics if you felt like taking the time to post them.
I would like to do something along the lines of what you're talking about but just don't have the patience to put the time into it.

I'll take some photos when I finally get to it. Too many irons in the fire right now, so I'm more in "purchase mode" than doing modifications right now.

I'm giving mine to my dad,
He's bought me a ton of knives for me over the years, while not ever getting hardly any for himself.
I convexed the edge on this one. It scares me. It "bit" me real bad when I was rubbing the sanded coating off.

A crappy closeup of my convex job, roughed in out with an upside down floor belt sander, finished it with a palm sander.

I've ALWAYS wanted one of those but from what others have told me, it has a rat tail that will break if you use it too hard. That alone stopped me from buying one for a long time now. :(

You're missing out. IMHO
It's not infi or 52100, but I've seen guys baton and chop tons of wood with theirs, and it's been around for decades for a reason.
Makes a great car trunk knife. It's thick enough to give you the mass you need, and with a bit of work, can chop about as good as a blade costing 3X more, but you won't cry if you lose it (swear a bit maybe). ;)
And $50-$60 made in the USA, c'mon...
Might not be your style though. YMMV

All I know is that I have beat the heck out of this one!
I have use it to split campfire wood and break up hard wood pallets and even smashed up a couple cinder blocks..not using the sharp edge of course.
I use a file to "sharpen" it when I think it need it and it's always held together under the hardest use.

All the nicks and dings are nothing but character and good memories.

And for anyone still sitting on the fence, it's even MORE impressive in hand than the photos portray. I'd love to see a candid camera video montage of people picking up an SP10 for the first time. I'd bet good money that the footage would show nothing but smiles..................it's pretty much an involuntary reaction. ;)
