Hello everyone,
Back in 86 or so I bought one of the Frost-Crain boxed and numbered Predator blades new. The box says it is #211 of 500. Since then I've heard many rumors about Mr. Crain's legal tiff with Frost Cutlery and how some of the blades had been destroyed at the factory. Now I know you guys are serious blade people and this type of thing you may look down upon, but I am hoping for some candid and credible information on what I may have. I do realize it is not a Crain original however it is a rare piece is it not? Thank you for the help...

Dunno if it's worth much, if that's what you want to know.

You can buy repros of the knife online for $89.00.

Frost Cutlery isn't known for quality AND Jack Crain is a thieving dirtbag. He's been taking people's money for years and not delivering knives, and will have to live the rest of his life looking over his shoulder...

Thanks for the info CWL it is appreciated . I have heard some crazy things about that guy. Have you tried to but anything from him? I figured since it was the original and a shortened run it might interest someone but if not it's ok. It's sweet looking and feels like it means business. Maybe I'll finally start hacking through the jungle with it.

Before the newest repos, the Frost-Crain Predators were $250-300 knives, I'm not sure if they still command a premium. They were decent knives, it's only in the last 15 or so years that they became a bottom of the barrell company, before that they were a decent low to middle line under their own name.

Crain on the other hand has had a bad rep since the mid 80's........

I have one of the vintage frost crains predator machette's. Its a pretty heavy beefy knife. It looks to be well made, I never used it, but it is much higher quality than the frost stuff made now. I have read where JC ripped people off, his rep is ruined forever, especially taking $1000's from people.
