Old Fuller and Powr Kraft Handle replace???

Got a couple old cheap hatchets that are in good shape excepting the rubber grip portions of the otherwise round metal handle. I have seen Estwing's with metal handles getting replacement grips of both wood, leather, and micarta. Is there anyway to "regrip" the Fuller's or Powr Krafts?? I know if would be easier just to replace since they are just cheap hatchets, but I need a winter project...

Maybe you can use this guy's idea to just "fix" damaged portions of the handle
