Can somebody tell me what the 'Friends' designation means in this forum?

If you ask to be somebody's friend, or somebody asks to be your friend, what does that mean/do?

I don't think it does much, but it's a quick way to access those people to shoot them a PM or email or something. At least that's how I use it.

It means that they are your friends and you have to give them your favorite piece of steel:D

I think if you ever wanted to send that person a pm or email, it is easy access right from your profile.

Yes, and when they upgrade to the 'family' status they start to cost you money :)

I remember a bit of a phrase, something like "............cold, dead fingers.." Ring a bell? :)

When I wanted to pm somebody, I just click on their user name.

BTW, I consider all people in this sub forum to be my friends, so if that's all it does, it seems somewhat redundant.

It is somewhat redundant. But if you have an idea you want to share with them, you can just go to your profile to click on their name, instead of hunting around the forums for it.

Like the new groups we can make up, it just adds something else to check on, a kind of semi-private forum, instead of writing where everyone on Bladeforums can come across it.

I'm going to move this to Service & Support, where forum usage questions belong.

Thanks Esav. I posted it in WSS because that's where I spend my time and that's where the requests came from.
