Old Gerber LMF Question

I have better knives but I have a Gerber Steadfast and I like it but wish it weren't made in China. It is 440A. Does anyone know if the old LMF was made of 44oA also? I suspect it was as back then using exotic stainless steels was not done. I suppose it could have been 440C which I still like.

I have an old LMF, and when I bought it the seller told me it was ATS-34. I am not 100% if that is correct, but either the blade or original box says what the steel is.
I am with you, I love the original LMF design.

According to this old thread http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/497597-What-kind-of-steel-is-Gerber-LMF-blade the originals were 440A also. I also have a Steadfast that I like just fine after a couple of minor mods (edge reprofile and new tang bolt), though it's still a bit thick behind the edge. A decent heavy duty beater knife for sure. :thumbup:
