This eight inch drop point will be a surprise gift for a good friend, its his 40th birthday. I worked with his wife on the particulars.

The blade is a 300 layer random made with 1084 and 15n20.
Handle is old growth redwood burl, water buffalo with ivory spacers and a ring of silicon bronze.
Guard is made of damascus in a crushed W's pattern.
The sheath is 8 oz veg dyed leather. The Celtic shield is a lost wax casting made using silicon bronze.
The knife is 8 1/2 inches overall.

The bevels were ground @ 3 1/2 degrees 7 degrees inclusive. The edge bevel was ground @ 12 degrees 24 degrees inclusive. Referenced to the centerline.

Sorry about the poor pics, we are experiencing gale force winds here today.

Very handsome. I am not sure what effect gale force winds have because it all looks great. Todd

Nice, Fred! I like it. I've been meaning to get some redwood burl. Every time I see a knife with it, I like it more. Beautiful blade!!

That guy's gonna have a very happy birthday, I expect. Nice work.
