Old HI magazine ads

I thought it might be interesting for some of the newcomers to the HI cantina to see some of the early Himalayan Imports ads. The oldest I could find was in a 1990 Knives Illustrated magazine. Others were from 1991 to 1996. Some were in Blade magazine, Fighting Knives magazine and Knives Illustrated. Without further delay here are the pictures from some of those magazine ads. What does this have to do with khukuris? Everything!:D

I remember those. I've got Blade from way back but didn't think to dig out the old ads.

I remember those adds! I always thought "Why would I spend that kind of money for one of those goofy things!" At that point the only ones that I had seen were the Atlanta Cutlery types (or worse)!

Then Fighting Knives did a review, and I caught the bug, although I didn't buy one from Bill until 2001.

I'll bet I blew right past those ads thinking they were tourist junk! Wish I had paid closer attention. Did you see that ad in the second pic above HI's for Beck's? I was dealing with them in the 90's and saw their ad in Blade, so I'll bet I looked right at Uncle Bill's advertisements. I would have been happy to find Uncle Bill just a year or so before I did, when he wasn't so sick, but am very thankful I got to know him even a little bit.
