ragweed forge has the 7 inch butcher knife and the 6 inch cabbage knife

he also sell moras, which are another popular choice for inexpensive knives.

Garage sales, rummage sales, auctions, thrift shops,Salvation Army. That's where all of the couple dozen of mine came from. AAAAAAAAAAnd !!! You will see all kinds of other cool knives and tools that you never knew existed. regards Henry

Some new Old Hickory's are a different thickness, and the "roll" lines or impressions are gone, maybe. I've read this elsewhere, and went ahead and got a 5 pc set from Knife Center.
I just cleaned up my Stepdad's 8-9" butcher knife, it rides in the bed of his truck with some tools. Still sharp as hell, the handles are dried up a bit, but still solid, and I cleaned off the rust with some white vinegar.
Take Henry's advice, you'll find all kinds of cool blades and tools out there.

You can buy a ontario butcher knife at www.notjustknives.com I think this is 6,39$us + shipping. I have order ontario paring knife and it is good for the price but this knife rust very very fast. Once you have do your stuff, clean it, rince it, dry it and add a little bit of oil on the blade. This is simple and easy to keep the blade rust free.

found a used 7" Old Hickory last weekend for $4 - nice thick blade and in good shape... check your local thrift shops to save a few bucks?
