So I picked this up at the flea market a couple months back for $3.00! Its been just sitting on my work bench waiting its turn to be cleaned up. I finally got around to it last night. It was in good condition, but had a few rust spots and just general crap and staining on it. Edge has one tiny chip in the flat section that I'm not going to worry about, it will come out over time.

I flat sanded the bevels and found they were hollow ground, ok no big deal, I'm not looking to make this thing a beauty queen, just clean it up for use. Found some ever so slight warping near the tip, and there is a shallow bow in the edge, all likely from the heat treat. Nothing to be worried about. #0000 steel wool over the entire blade, sand the bevels and I also rounded the spine for comfort.

Just finished sharpening it freehand on waterstones, 12 inches of laser sharp edge! Eventually it will get a full face lift and new handle, but its nice and tight now and feels good in hand.

I like it as it is. The handle's simplicity matches wonderfully with the blade. You may consider to soak the handle in mineral oil, though, if you haven't done so already.

gonna rehandle mine as my knife has a badly conditioned handle. gonna put some philippine hardwood on them. just waiting for the local knife maker to have some time to doing a couple of my knives.
