Just took possession of this Italian Vespa camp style pocket knife.
Scales are maybe Ox horn.
They are worn but not too bad .
Any clues on how to protect, preserve and rejuvenate?
Is orange oil OK to use or maybe some beeswax product?
thanks in advance.
Also the bail is kind of deformed and its movement has caused abrasion of the horn.
Is there a best way to reshape it to prevent further damage?

mineral oil, I use it on my horn razor scales, it will darken them though. the end near the bail has started to delaminate and it wont fix that but will stop further delamination.

Thank you kn4wd.
i'm thinking about running a bit of the super thin runny supaglue on that end where the delamination has occurred just to fix it.
and yeah the 3 in 1 oil on that rust too.
cheers.

It's cow horn.
Thin superglue will help where it is delaminating.
Oil doesn't help old horn. It darkens it, but it does nothing to preserve horn.
Wax it with paste wax.

Thank You Bill
What type of wax is paste wax?
I ask because some products I see talked about on BF are not widely available in OZ -or may have a different brand.
cheers

I have some wholesome organic furniture polish which is carnuba and beeswax blend -would that be any good?
Thanks so much for your advice.
