While browsing a Dutch site, I found this old knife. The seller told me that it was the standard issue knife of the Indonesian army in the 1950's. He came to the Netherlands in 1955 and took his knife with him.
In july 1950 the Royal Dutch East Indies Army (KNIL) ceased to exist and many KNIL-soldiers, native Indonesians too, moved to the Netherlands. I didn't ask, but I suspect he's a former KNIL-soldier. So I think it was the knife of the KNIL.
Edit: KNIL = Koninklijk Nederlands-Indisch Leger = Royal Dutch East Indies Army.
I noticed that the knife looks a lot like an old knife from Solingen. The scales are very similar and seem to be made from the same material. The Indonesian knife has 'INOX' stamped on the main blade, so I think it was made in Europe, could even be made by the same knife manufacturer in Solingen, but that's guessing of course.
