my step dad brought this from work since they didnt need it anymore. unfortunately the other 5 where thrown out :grumpy:

your thoughts on its ability in forgeing/heat treating given that the cavity is coated with inswool, icw-100 and satanite?

(the left burner had the apeture/orifice drilled way to wide, and im pretty sure the right burner is a little to wide as well)

i could take the burners into school and solder/redrill the orifice's to make them smaller

also no sure about why the discoloration on the left burner is like it is... burgeoning (hard) one brick forge in the backround...

pretty cool burner -- definitely looks like that left one has been widened or burned out. It would probably be easier just to make a reil-type burner for a small forge. Do you have the resources at school to make one?

i think im going to be perfectly happy with the one brick forge, its just that this one is free, wich for whatever reason makes me want to use it moreso then things that i have bought...

i really wish he had brought home more of them... it would have made it so incredibly easy to make a 6 burner 4 brick forge (a longer version of the one brick forge) :D

i have all the fittings to make a full sized forge like the one shown on indian georges website, but im having a hard time coming up with the money for that much refractory equipment, even just buying satanite and icw-100. i figured if i can make what is essentially a bean can forge out of a preexisting set up, or even if i could jut cut down the size of the forge and buy the absolute smallest quantities of the supplies available it would make it more likely that i could build it within the next 2 months. otherwise most of my money goes towards bills and gas. 25-30 hours a week at a minimum wage job doesnt bring in much :(, as it stand i wont have the money to buy the equipment for the reil type burner even if i was trying to build one...

i do have all the resources to make a burner at school though, and will be brazing/welding the i.g. model if i ever get the refractories for it.

If you have a builders supply somewhere nearby you can get soft firebricks for about $1 a peice. Stack some of them up for a big forge, with the big burner your building. Use that until you can afford the inswool and stuff, or use it forever, it works :D

WOW. i really wish he had brought them all home now... bead blast them, clean them up and they may have been worth something...

thanks for the link :D
