maybe one of y'all can help me out. when i was a kid i found an old ka-bar in a shed down the road from me. it was a folding knife but there were 3 parts to it. the handle had an insert that folded out and then the blade folded out from the insert then the handle closed back on it. a pretty neat and unique way to make a locker. anyhow, when i was around 22 or so i took it to a local knife maker here in fairbanks and he said he could repair the blade for me as needed. of course that didnt work because he closed up shop and noone has seen him since! i dont really want my knife back as bad as id like to find another one. and also to slander this guys name as much as possible. crook. Elwes. thats the name.somewhere in alaska i would think.anyways, a possible model number or style name would be a great help in finding another one.

that mechanism sounds like the cold steel triple action folders...aren't they infamous for copying others' designs...? maybe this folder was the inspiration for the triple action...

nope thats just fanboyism for ya

Let's see if this picture comes out.

This is a Case Tri-Fold I got a few years ago. The blade is 2 3/8".

Smoky Mountain was getting rid of them for about $11.

the one i had was close to the case in design. the center section was brass and had brown bakelite? slabs. the closed length was close to six or seven inches. ive got my eye on e-bizzle looking for a replacement.

Good luck! It's a great design that I wish I'd picked up a couple more of. It's even easy to open one-handed.

Cold Steel seems to have blown it by making the handles out of aluminum, which degrades with very little action, swinging the blade out. Even some kind of bushing, maybe brass, for the pins to swivel inside, would hav helped.

A small utility folder maybe in Zytel with a wharnecliff blade would be nice. :)
