Old Ka-Bar Trapper, use it or sell it??

I've been given an old Ka-Bar stag handled trapper. I think I was the first person to open the box. It’s a beautiful thing, the stag is perfectly matched on both sides. I know nothing of these knives. My question is are they common? And made to be used? Or should I try to pass it on to a collector? Thanks!

It's not really that old, it was made in the 1980s I believe. Perhaps the 1990s. The dogs head shield did not appear on the early original models of this knife. It was made for the modern collector's market.

Still a nice looking blade but

I would keep it and use it unless you have another knife that you want to carry every day.
