I was digging through my Grandpa's draw of knives he finds up in the woods and found this old Kabar knife. It even had the leather sheath but the sheath is really rough and pretty much dead now.

I was hoping you guys could answer some questions about this knife.

How old is the knife? What are the bumps on the back of the blade for? How rare is it?
Is it a good or bad knife? and what model is the knife?

Here is a pic of the full knife.

Going by what I've seen on traditional knives, it's probably a fillet knife of some kind and the bumps were for scaling a fish.

biloo,

HH is correct. It is a KA-BAR Fillet Fish Knife and the bumps on the back spine are for scaling fish. The Model # is 1381. Produced 1955-1965. If the blade stays sharp and it fillets fish, it is a good knife.
Hope this helps.
