I received this knife around 8 or maybe more years ago....really cant remember and recently put it back into my pocket.

Well. I started to wonder what could be found on it and found this old post.

Found the answer myself. Nice lady at Kershaw says 1044 is Lil Hoss, made 1992-1996. Brother to Big Hoss (Model 1061). 1044 similar to black colt II but fewer finger scallops on handle and hidden lockback. Retail MSRP 1993 - $34.95. Not available anywhere. Big Hoss available via web NIB mostly from eBay. Lil Hoss closed - a little less than 4" with ~3" blade. Big Hoss 5" closed, 4" blade. AUS 6 steel. Made in Japan.

Well here are some photos.

I doubt this knife has any real collectors value but it reminded me about knives that are a bit more old school and simple.

I still have the belt sheath, original box and the little fold out brochure that came with the knife.

It went on my first hunting trip, numerous camps and has been sharpened who knows how many times!

Do anyone else have some of the older kershaw models? Would love to see them.

I knew someone who had a Kershaw with a red and black handle and I want to say it changed blades or something crazy. That's back in the days of the Gerber folding Gators and Buck Crosslocks. My how far things seem to have come!

I have a few. ;)

I've got about 3 or 4 that are older models; Grant County, Blackhorse, and combo blade tanto linerlock all in ats-34. I'll try to post a picture over the weekend.

I bought a G10 Starky Ridge with no box at a local gun store a few years ago for a ridiculously low price , the counter gent did not know what he was selling and I sure didn't educate him.

IMO it is the perfect folding knife as far as blade shape is concerned , I have been toying with the idea of having it converted into a ti framelock.

Thanks for sharing guys.
