I just LOVE the curvy(but pointy too) look of it!

The old khuks had a grace to them that the current ones can't quite match, IMO. Maybe it's the thinness of the blades.

The sword handle is almost identical to that of a modern bolo that I bought from ReflectionsOfAsia.com. Interesting.

James, I'm tempted to top your bid, and offer him $17.50 for it.

Beautiful Old Warrior!!!!  :D

The one with the lathe turned handle looks almost like an old Spike Bayonet. They didn't have locks on the old ones, just inserted them down the barrel of their musket and charged on...

Old shotguns, H and H doubles, come to think of it, a original milled reciever AK has a certain grace....

I wonder if we could get him to make a mold of it???
That would make a GREAT special project knife for HI!!!

LOLOL!!!! That's how the original Foxy Folly khukuri was conceived. The kamis used their own interpretation when they made it and it came out way heavy.
Later renditions when shooting for the 17" model came out about right. I don't know if Brett got one of the light ones or not, he should've if he didn't.
I almost wish now that I had gotten one of the light long models. :(

You have a fine set there...the plug bayonet and the hunting knife started me to thinking. I have a long background in living history.and in the 1740-1780's such knives were used to hunt boar in Europe. A gentleman would hunt over specialy trained dogs..they would chase and corner the boar..then the gentleman would use a heavy bore musket to shoot it. Since boar rarely go down with one shot the dogs would persue it until bleading and dying the boar would "run to ground". The gentleman would then wait for the right moment to give the command to the dogs. When given they would bite down on the boars head ,ears, snout and hind legs to anchor the boar. Then the gentleman would fix his plug bayonet to his musket and stab the boar in the neck to "blead him out" so as not to spoil the meat. Sometimes a very wealthy gentleman would use a hunting sword.to do the same job. The knife/sword in the top of you pic fits perfectly with the hunting swords of that time..stiff back niddle point, lots of belly. The plug bayonet began as a hunting tool but was later used by the military for war. Personaly, having said all this i would rather just hit the trapped boar in the top of the head with the pictured khukri..not cricket by the standards of the day..but a lot more effective in my oppion.....hmmm what would be the perfect khukri for hog hunting..its legal in Alabama ya know!!
