Old kindjal Q?

Does anyone have any ideas about the possible origins of this knife? Good, well ground, tempered steel double-edged blade, small, dark painted or varnished wood handle, silver, or possibly nickel-silver sheath with turquoise (?) embellishments. Odd little knob for the attachment of a chain (missing) on the front and a similar one on the back toward the top for some kind of suspension - also missing. Any comments appreciated...
