Hi, I have a Schrade-Walden NY USA 147 jigged handled knife. I'm not sure if it's made fromDelrin or celuloid?

It's also stamped Sears encircled with High - Carbon Tool Steel All Purpose Hunter U.S.A. on the other side of blade.

Do you have any idea what it may be worth. It is in very good condition but the blade does have some scuff marks with NO rust at all.

Thanks for any help.

Sorry we let this one slip through the cracks. Not like us at all.

I think this is your knife. Handle is Delrin. The model number was recycled years later as the 147OT rubber handled filet knife. Although there would be some collector interest from both Craftsman/Sears and Schrade collectors, the value is not high, perhaps $25.

Anyone else offer anything more info-wise on this one?

Those knives with the pinned aluminum saddle horn pommel will always be classics. I have a pair of pre-war George Schrades with that same pommel, and I know it was copied by Western Boulder, Case, and most every other maker. The pommel was carried over on the Schrade 41OT Maverick (also in delrin handle) in 1971. I believe the Maverick was the last of the Schrades using that pommel.

I have a 137 from the same series as the 147, I think, but mine has the leather washer handle and black, white spacers. The '49ers used the same staglon design handles, also offered in leather, and the thin brass guards as well, though they had flat butt plates in place of the classic pommel.

The blade on the 147 reminds me of the sword grind and slight upsweep of the 165OT, though the bottom of the tang is shaped differently. It has proven to me to be the ideal hunter blade shape with an excellent blend of sweep to the cutting edge and thick, stiff spine.

I don't know the production details of your 147, but it is a really nice classic design for a keeper!

:D Thanks for the replies fellas. I will probably be selling this on e-bay.

My knife is similar to that picture but the spine of the blade sweeps down a little @ about 2/3 of the blade length and then sweeps back up to the point. Also the guard is thin and not made of brass.

The pommel is pinned.
