old knife

my step-dad still has his old scout knife. Not sure the steel though, its all intact. Just some patina on the blade.

Anyone know the steel or history of this knife?

My dad has 2 of the drop points-His are marked Case though. I know camillus made a bunch of scout equipment...

Possibly Western or Schrade, looks like carbon steel. Many of this type of fixed blade knife were made, and by many different makers for scouting.

Any markings on the blade itself or sheath?

I have a knife that looks identical to that one, different sheath but the knife is the same. Mine says Western on the tang, then something I can't make out and USA under that. Yep, carbon steel blade. It's actually a pretty nice knife which I just hand sharpened last weekend.

Looks like one of the old knives made by pal on remingtons old blades (that they bought when they bought out remington). It also could be one of the older western states knives.

Its carbon steel.
