I recently made a trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. I couldn't resist taking a few shots of they blades they had there. A lot are beautiful and many I would love to see "modernized" and reproduced today.

I'll get some more (especially of the Japanese blades) next time I go.
 
I was there a few years back and at the time there was a Japanese armor and arms exhibit there that was unreal. Samarai swords that were hundreds of years old that appeared new.

The Met is an incredible place to spend time.
