Here is a Joseph Allen and Sons NON - XLL Sheffield English bowie knife of mine circa late 1880's-1900. In 1883, Joseph Allen & Sons acquired the NON-XLL mark from Unwin & Rodgers, which he stamped on the razors and other cutlery. NON*XLL means None Excel. It was the trademark of Joseph Allen, Sheffield. Joseph Allen and Sons was in competition with Wostenholm, who used I*XL as a trademark and was a much larger operation selling more knives. The company NON*XLL went out of business in 1947. I bought this at an antique shop months ago. I couldn't get over the jigged handles. They really have some character. Figured I would share an old one.

Post your old folding knives and fixed blades. I'd like to see some old ones. :thumb up:

There's a thread already called OLD KNIVES - it's a " sticky" ( one of the threads you will see all the time at the top of the page) . Your knife is early 1900 's - I have owned a few of them over the years. Great knives, like you say I love the Bone.
