I was given a selection of old knives from my grandfather last night and am looking to try and clean them up and make them look good again, there are a few that have names on them and a few that don't. I would love to post some pictures of them but I am a newb and don't know how to. I got six fixed blades, two of which look like they would have been military issue or carried by soldiers. And I got two folders ones a case xx it has two blades about three inches long. Then I also got a WWII switchblade carried by my great uncle while he was in the war in Europe, the story behind it is that it scared off a couple Germans that were walking up behind him. Also I got a M J Higgins Straight Razor. What I am looking for is some advice on how I should clean them up, they are not all in good condition. Lots of rust and evidence of sharpening by someone that didn't know what they were doing. Thanks in Advance Toakley

Do NOT clean those blades yet. There are many highly collectible knives which can be ruined through aggressive cleaning. Lets start by having the knives identified, and then you can better choose which one to make nice and shiny.

im liking the splay blade on that trapper at the bottom, also some of the fixed blades look like a modified colorado knife
