Does anyone have a CQC 6 with the older, curved Emerson logo that they wish to sell/trade? Condition is unimportant, since it will be a user (frankly, the more used the better!). Will consider trading another Emerson for it.

jbravo,

Just out of curiosity is it because you don't like the Specwar knives logo or do you feel that the older Emerson handmades are better constructed?

Jason

Purely esthetics. I have a SpecWar logo 6, and had one with the newer dated logo. Both have the same great construction, twenty + little screws holding everything together, and all the other stuff. Actually the newer one had nicer bolsters - file worked - but I didn't like the beadblast finish. I've just always wanted one with the older logo, and since it'll be my daily carry, it might as well look the way I'd like. I'm not picky about which color micarta the handles are, for example, even though the greenish seems more "original".

JBravo,
I have one.

It has Half Moon Logo w/ Green Micarta Scales. All file work on Bolsters including rare finger detent on both sides
of Bolster. Blade is satin polished.
What do you have to trade/sell for it ?
Thanks

To All Interested:

jbravo and I have been working on a deal and he has been more than accomodating. Unfortunately, I value my 6 too much to let it go. Earlier, I posted that I might've been interested in trading my old 6 for a CQC8. jbravo contacted me and we discussed it - he then fedexed his CQC8 overnight so I could check it out! We don't know each other at all.

I was quite impressed with jbravo's sincerity and trust within the group of Emerson enthusiasts. Apparently he has owned and traded an incredibly high volume of custom Emersons ( more than 50) and is quite a knowledgeable and experienced collector/user.

I got to play around with a CQC8 for a night, for that alone, I feel indebted to the man.

Once againI apologize for turning down the offer and good luck. See you at the March Show.

Paul

I'm no expert on the value of Emersons, but aren't the older 6's, especially with the half moon logo worth more?

Well, they are to me! Actually, I think they sell for about the same as any 6, only because it's so hard to find one regardless of logo. I do think that 6's with a satin finish and single grind ought to be more valuable, unless they've been used/abused. If there's one out there, I think I'm prepared to trade/pay market value!

Hey Tamishigiri,
What exactly are those finger detents on both sides of the bolsters. What does it look like. I've never seen or heard about it.
Thanks

DavidT,
the detents on both sides of the Bolsters
are mirror images of each other. That would be the best consise explanation and illustration to offer. It is rare, I have not seen many w/ this configuration but make no mistake about it they do exist. The blade on mine is a polished satin and extremely sharp true cheisel grind. Also mill work on top and bottom of bolsters for purchase during weapon impact, shock impact and fine motor manipulation needs etc. Awesome Tactical Knife !

That feature sounds pretty cool. It is one that I've never seen just like The right side grind on the CQC6. I know there is one in existance, but never seen it.
Thanks for the explanation.
David

Hey Tam -
You're killin' me with these descriptions of the knife I'm looking for! Wouldn't you like to trade it for another Emerson to play with? For that matter, David T, since you have an old 6 in addition to a new one, perhaps you might consider parting with it? Surely one of you guys out there would rather have an 8 or a fixed blade or? instead of that old beat-up 6...

OHHHHH No, No, No

I just got this 6 back from Emerson last week after being out of my hands for (3) weeks. I would like to keep it for a little longer. As for the newer 6 it has the mis-marked blade. Definately keeping that one. ( I really don't think anyone wants that one anyway).
Thanks for the offer though. Jbravo, I'm on almost the same quest, I'm looking for a CQC5. No one has one for sale.

We all have what each other wants. I have a cqc 5 with a true chisel grind (no secondary bevel). What I need to complete my collection of Ernie's folders is a Viper 2 and a Viper 4. Does anybody out there have one?

jBravo,
sorry Bro I have 2 CQC 8's already. I covet them !
I have a Phaser, Trivector, Vindicator, PUK,
BodyGuard, Carrachi Dagger already as well.
Not trying to be difficult, just don't need
them.
Maybe next time !
Thanks

Jack, you really don't want that CQC5. It's ahh......too small, yeh that's it

You should really sell it to me. I've wanted one for about 4 years now. I keep coming across 6's even fancy ones, but no 5's. I saw a 5 probably about two years ago at Les's table at the NY knife show. Kicking myself for not buying it then.

I have a 6 on order and would like to buy a 5 also. If the 6's according to Les are bringing $1200. What in the name of heaven must I pay to get a new condition five? Is there any actual history on market value on these? Eveyone seems to want one. There must be a few out there. I probably can't afford it, but would be interesting to know.

I own a Emerson CQC7. It's the one from Benchmade and I love it. I'm not too familiar with Emerson's products and would like to learn more. I've heard of the CQC6 but have never seen one of the CQC8 for that matter. Can someone post a picture please or give me a web site with the knives on it? Also, why did Emerson do a knife with BM? I've seen his new web site. I guess he's in business for himself now or has he always been that way? Any info you can give me about his knives and the man is appreciated. Thanks.

Eric,

And all others who want CQC5's. According to Emereson he is going to make 50 this year.

If in fact he does that (yea right), I will have plenty to go around. As most of the new owners will be giving me a call to sell their knives.

Of course last April he told Blade Forums and Bud Lang he was going to make 50 CQC6's. I can't believe it, even his stories have extended delivery times! LOL

Eric, in answer to your question, the price is $1,200 - $1,400. Depending on if I like the person or not. <G>

Les

Hey Les,
I'm at the top of your list for a CQC5 right?
biggrin.gif

I remember you had one a few years back at the NY show. I should have bought it then. I still have your flyer where you also had a few other Emerson customs listed, including one of his first handmades. I think it was made out of 440C & a totally different logo in lieu of his half moon or Specwar logos.
