went and visited the old man up the road. he gave me a good deal on a pair of schrades. a mint walden 108ot and a walden 863 with a repaired scale. i'll try to get photos up later.

Kaleb,

I congratulate you. You're building a life-long hobby. Who knows, maybe one day you'll be a knifemaker many of us will want to collect. :)

Good deal MM. Let's see....2 knives per week x 52 weeks in a year....you'll have a heck of a collection by the time you are my age! Just don't forget when YOU are the old man on the hill, to treat the kid right when he comes tapping on your chamber door with a couple of dollars!

Between now and then you have a terrific opportunity to infect others. XT2B, XT3B, XT7B, the whole Safe-T-Grip series is cheap right now. There is your start on the fillet knives, by the way. Then you can pass them over to your fishing buddies when you get one of the Uncle Henry's!

here is the pics:

the 863 is in good shape other than the right scale being busted, someone also made a poor attempt to repair it with jb weld. the 108ot is mint-near mint and has the schrade-walden tangstamp.

I had both of those fillets, I bought them a while back (before I found this forum) to use on bass and catfish, and I didn't like them. Also don't care for the rubberish handles on the saftgrip series. I like the old school style knives the most.
