Old Marbles Knife Sells for $13K

Not sure if I can post the link but an old Marbles MSA knife on the bay just sold for $13K+. Shows what folks will shell out for that certain knife.

I like my $120 Blind Horse Knives blade just fine. That and a few other nice fixed blades, none over $200.
 
Two entirely different things, really. An old Marbles or Scagel will sell for such a high price due to their scarcity and/or historical value. they aren't users, like that Blind Horse.
 
Yeah, I do get that. It just amazes me how much some of these go for. And the Scagels are in a league of their own.
 
I don't think I could take the chance on Ebay, even if I had the money. Not exactly Sotheby's, now, it it?

You got that right. If I was rolling in money, I'd probably buy one (not off the Bay)...but I'm not.

Marbles knives are of tremendous historical significance....it's easy to forget that their design and intended use was unheardof at the time. Really the first significant knives designed specifically for recreational outdoors use. Pretty much the great granpappy of everything made now.
