I have an old Master Hunter in Carbon V back when that was Sharon 170-6 as far as I can tell. Are those semi-desirable in user condition?

To some people yes. I still have my Carbon V MH I bought in 1994. They aren't exceptionally valuable in user condition though.
Seems like there are more people picking up old Carbon V models in top condition as collection pieces.

As above.

I have an old unused MH Carbon V as well.
Mint apart from some doink putting a fingerprint on the blade years ago unnoticed by me and slipping the knife back into the sheath without wiping the blade first.

They are EXCELLENT hunting knives BTW.

Probably the best hunting knife designed, IMHO. Love that Carbon V steel. Great grip, never gets slippery even when cold, covered with blood and fat.

Many years ago I went to buy a new knife and had to decide between the carbon v Recon Tanto and the carbon v Master Hunter. I ended up buying the Recon Tanto, but it has sat in the box nearly 15 years unused. I really wish that I had bought the Master Hunter back then.

Them are big words:D
Dozier fans (and others) might want to argue:)

But the MH is a very nice knife IMO. A very well executed design and a good size for its intended use. I like it.

I can give a thumbs up for the SM III version. I have used the hell out of the thing and it still works great. I have a Carbon V Master Hunter that I am currently doing a rehandle job on.
