I have obtained an old meat cleaver from a house I worked on, and I wanted to know about the company that made it. On the blade, it says 'International Edge Tool Co. Newark.N.J. M.I.Germany Solid Steel' and near the handle it says '79-9" hand forged'. Aparently, there is no information online whatsoever about this company, but whoever they were they made a fine product since the original owner used it as a hatchet and its still in very good shape.

Bump thred. Any info on this I just got 1 of these from a old friend. But this one is 83-8 .

Sorry for necro-posting but I thought I'd just add to the record for this company.

I was just looking at a butcher knife that I repaired a while ago, removing a few chips and refinishing the handle, and saw the name on it as
International Edge Tool Co. - Googled it and this thread came up first.

It's a pretty nice blade. It's marked "Super Stainless Steel" Japan 8860-10.

VERY nice job on the handle refinishing! Love bringing the old things back to life.
