Old MS Hogs

I have become very interested in the MS knife (I want to become a new MS HOG:D) and I was interested in knowing what makes a MS a Desert Warfare MS. I have seen them described as a MS with a maroon toned tan slab and .20 thick. I have also seen them described as any thickness (.20, .23, .25 and up) with the maroon/tan slabs.

I have also seen old text that says the maroon/tan made it onto regular Mean Streets which makes me think that a DWMS is only a MS with a .20 thick blade. But from what I can dig up it seems to be the current trend to call any MS a "DWMS" if the slabs are the right color.

So do any old time HOGS (or Jerry) actually know?

hamguy and onewhoporks are two of your fellow mean street pro's. maybe we can get them to sober up and chime in here. i also see papathud lurking around today, he prolly knows some too.

Do you sill have all of those? I think I'd fly to Idaho just to see them... not that I wouldn't do that to see you but errrrr you know:o... you don't have that much good Scotch.

My DWMS measures out at .239" with the coating. The original specs were supposedly .230" http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=135304&highlight=Desert+Warfare+Street

The actual first run DW models would have the smooth coating (April/May 2000 +/-). I don't believe the crinkle started until later the same year (fall or winter). I don't have any idea on the Micarta color though. Mine is a rich, dark maroon/tan but you would have to ask the Janitor if the lighter tan, smooth coat ones were found througout the run:confused:

As a side note, I remember my first Busse ganzaaa splurge at Knob Creek (October 2000) and none of the knives available had crinkle yet and the DWMSs were already long gone!

All that I've seen/owned were smooth coated and the dark Tan (red) Macarta.
And the number .20 seems to ring a bell.

I know of NO light tan macarta DWMS's, there were only 7-12 Tan handle LMS's, and only 117 Lean Mean Streets to begin with.

THERE!!! the double edged one, where do I get one?!?!?!?!
(this is very f*cked up, I just met this girl, I just a few moments ago saw that the car I've been oogling on my block for a few years, an old plymyth grand fury, is for sale cheap, and I realized i'm willing to missout on both due to the knife I'm not sure I will be able to get!!! This is disturbing)

edit: Well at least the girl bought me ice cream today, so I saved up some cash, for me knife, but i think after a few more shuch "dates" she'll figure me out.

So then do you guys think this is a DWMS? I'm about 90% sure that it is. The prior owner is from overseas and I don't speak his language.:o I just got lucky:thumbup:

I put it next to a CPDABA-III so you can see the color of the slabs vs. the Badger.

This would be much much easier if I had kept the tan one I just had and compared them.

Oh, THAT one? Easy, drive up to Mashed Cat, Idaho, find Skunks secret compound, navigate the minefield while under fire from a Barrett .50, breach the outer defenses, take down the wolf-hybrid attack dogs, sneak past the sleeping drunken Skunk, find the secret vault, pic the lock, and there ya go!

oh, and while you're there, could ya pick up a few things for me? :D

Crap............Drats......................

THAT IS A HARD ONE:):):) to find that is.....:eek::rolleyes:

Easy, first the location, how many minefields are there in Idaho, especialy the size that you need a barrett .50 BMG rifle to reach across.
Second: Bombard the location with liquor.
Third: Parachute onto the vault, avoiding the sniper fire and wolfdogs (though he'd have a pack of wild boar-hogs, after running into one of those I would take on any wolf anyday rather them meet face to face with one of those.)
Fouth: here is the first problem, I'll need to get into the safe, here where the bombardment with liquor pays of, skunk is out and doesn't hear the explosion.
Five: Take out the sniper
Six get air lifted out.

If you sponsor my trip I will split the contents of the vault with you 50/50

I would say "yes". But if it's thinner than .20 I shore wouldn't tell Hammy about it. ;)

I'm a huuuuuuge fan of these old school blades, but in order to keep some of my money I had to specialize. My motto...if it's Lean and Mean....and nekkid...I NEEDS IT! :D Maybe I should change that to just "Mean and Nekkid"...the "Lean and Mean and Nekkid" market has been pretty slow. ;)

Those Means are sweet blades.

one old road (goat trail) coming in and i have about a mile and a half clear zone...

just right for a .50 and a few propane bottles, also note the draw bridge 1/4 mile up river :D :D :D

I have no information for you. I just want to know how you're networking overseas for INFI.

Remember, this is what Skunk wants you to believe.

I think it's a decoy.

I have to agree about the decoy, there are way to many trees left standing in the fifty mile radius for it to be his place.

Although there is a field, and its a pretty good place to snipe, there is agood 360 view, plus the higher ground advantage...hmmm maybe because he suspected we would suspect him of giving us a wrong adress he would give the right adress, just so we are sure its not, and will not even think about looking there.

But now he knows that we know that he knows we know and he'll get ready.
