I have been trying to track down some info' on this old Muskrat pattern that belonged to my great-grandfather.

Original handles are gone, replaced with pounded lead at some point.

The only markings on the knife are "B577" at the base of teh clip point blade.

Closed length over 3 3/4 inches.
Squared bolsters that appear to be steel
Visible hinge pins in the bolsters (German????)
1 main clip point blade
1 spey blade
Both blades have long nail pulls

Anyone recognize this oldy?

B for Boker maybe, just a shot in the dark. I do want to comment on the knife though, its a testament to our greatgrandparents generation that this knife was repaired and well used like it was. Anyone who grew up during the Depression era can probablt relate, those folks didn't waste a thing, couldn't affors to. That mindset followed them through the rest of their lives, to this day, my wifes greatgrandmother doesn't waste a thing.

Don't you wish old knives could talk, bet this one would tell a heck of a story.

What amazes me, is that after being oiled and cleaned up, even after all these years the knife is still in working order. The backsprings are strong and the blades would shave still. I touched them up and they are scary sharp now. I may carry this one some just for fun!

I am truly blessed when it comes to heirloom knives, I have:

1. A Case 6347HP Stockman that belonged to my father who died when I was 9.
2. A Camillus TL-29 that belonged to him also.
3. A Queen #30 Trapper of his also.
4. A Boker "scout" knife that belonged to my maternal grandfather.
5. A Case Tested XX (pre-model numbers) that belonged to my Maternal great-grandfather.
6. The Muskrat in question that belonged to my paternal great-grandfather.
