hello folks,

I recentley bought a buck odyssey (ATS-34, 181U), more for the design than for using it. But it is really comfortable and I use it more and more, But I am wondering about the durability of this knife.
The scales are some kind of plastic (this is not the biggest problem).
But the stop-pin, which is also the spacer, is some kind of plastic too ! Isn't that gonna wear off after a few years?
Should I worry I have the old version?
Is there anything I can do to reinforce it's possible weak spots?

greetz and thanks in advance.

Bart,

I would recommend that you use the that knife. We made them to last but should you ever have a problem with it, send it in and we will take care of it, simple as that!

Thanks for the reply!

Does the fact that I live in Europe make any difference in service when I should send it back? Or should I have the store were I bought it send it back?
Second, When there is a steel stoppin, it is almost always round, thus making the impact strength a lot smaller. The plastic (I think the spacer is something else then the thermoplastic scales - maybe zytel) spacer has a few square mm to distribute strenght to! I use a lot now, and I don't think I am going to live longer then this knife!

Bart,

I do believe that there isn't a standard answer in regards to service from Europe. I have asked around and aparently some dealers will do the warrantee exchange and some wont. Heres hoping you will never need to know!

Take care,
