Well since I don’t collect Buck knives collectibles are out.
I was trying to get a few BOTMs but got priced out of the game on those.
I buy very very few Bucks.
If I can find something at a flea market or swap meet that’s reasonable and can be sent in for a Spa that’s the route I take today!! 🤗

The knives I have focused on and bought from 2005 to now are made by Buck. I love the custom LE knives and gold etched variations (new and older). Over the years the company has shifted their busness model, leaving me longing for the past. What do I mean by that, in years past Buck put out catalog factory LE custom knives each year. Those custom knives got changed to catalog LEGACY knives, now those have been replaced by web specials, web exclusives, BOMs, and a few LEs only sold from the factory on-line orders for folks who don't live near the factory. Also, they have cut out most of their Dealers, so they can keep most of the proffits in house (smart busness wise). However, I miss the dealer sold pricing and actually being able to aquire one, if you are not at home and see the email when they drop, you will never get the opertunity to purchase one, great for Buck, not so for the average collector. So, these days most of the knives I buy are older collectables, when I find them.

I used to buy mostly used Bucks because I wanted to have all of the models that I couldn't afford as a kid. Now that I obtained most of the mid-80's through the mid-90's models I wanted in my younger years, I've been buying new Bucks. Next on my list are a 112 Magnacut with Buffalo, a 112 auto elite in Magnacut (hopefully they release that soon) and the highly anticipated Range.

I currently own about 30 Buck knives, and of those 30 Bucks 20 of them were acquired used or NOS.
12 of those 20 are 305's, and Buck no longer makes them.

I am more inclined towards vintage/ secondary market Bucks these days because I'm exclusively into traditional knives ( especially little ones ) and Buck is focused far more on the modern stuff lately.

I currently have 22 Buck knives of various styles. I buy new as I only buy what I intend to use and not just to collect them. The only one that wouldn't fit in the traditional BF forum is probably the 112 Lochsa as it has a clip. I missed getting the 110 slim elite and that would have been another not quite traditional. I'm hoping to grab a 112 slim elite when it comes around.

I generally prefer the traditional designs, too. That being said, there are a few newer designs (the Vantage and Sprint series come to mind) that I enjoy quite a lot. I'm glad that we have the option to pick up used and NOS knives on the second hand market. Whether it's a user or collector is somewhat random, for me. Good idea for a poll!

I don’t collect I accumulate. I honestly just pickup what I like whether old or new. Buck does make up a decent part of my accumulation though. Not sure how many I have but not near the amount of a lot of folks on here. Almost every one was purchased with the plan to use it in some fashion or another.

I couldn't have said it any better!

I started to check mostly new, then thought no, maybe half new, then as I thought through my Buck "accumulation" I realized it probably tends to mostly used. We have an excellent knife shop in town and the owner does a lot of trading and purchasing of collections, so there are always a lot of interesting used knives available, both traditional and modern. He's always had a few new Bucks on hand and has started carrying more. In fact, I need to "put a bug in his ear" about getting some of the new 301s and 303s in stock. I'd rather buy from him (used or new) than order new if possible.

Same here.
Even the vintage more scarce 305's I acquired NOS get pocket time.
A good quality knife was meant to be used and I don't want to just hoard them to have for the sake of having them.

I buy mostly new Buck knives but I do own several from the 700 series that I bought in the last 15-18 years. All purchased after they were discontinued.

I’d say that about 80% of my Buck collection was purchased new.
