Why is it when I see this picture I think of junior high shop class, and Mr. Olin saying, "Remember when working with power tools pay close attention to your work, and do not get distracted as thats how fingers are lost."

Oh, Junior High shop class. That brings back memories. Back then, corporal punishment was still allowed. Mr. Jones had a thin paddle with holes in it, and would give us a good smack on the butt if we did something unsafe. Now this may come as a shock to you, but I'm kind of a smartass. One of the kids was changeing a circular saw blade without unplugging the saw. I was standing there smirking, cause I knew he would get some licks. Mr. Jones saw me snickering and asked what was going on. "Bill's changing the saw blade and he didn't unplug it" says I.

"And you LET HIM DO IT!"

"Uhh, yes Sir"

"Well grab your ankles Ferguson, you're gettin his licks for seeing it and not telling him!"

WHACK, WHACK, WHACK, WHACK, WHACK

Important lesson learned.

Yep, no pain, no gain. Shop taught some important lessons, especially for me, as I believe it's why I still have both eyes and all my fingers (knock on wood). Too bad it didn't work for my hair.

Greg

I had one shop teacher who used to always tell us stories about how he wished coporal punishment wasnt banned. He still had the paddle he used to use, and would walk around the class swinging it:D Though, after seeing some of the dumba$$es in class, I wished he could have used it too:mad: I remember in power mechanics, we started out with a full tool cabinet, by the time class was done, all that was left was a couple of sockets, and a broken pliers. :(
