I have an old console stereo/turntable made by Sylvania. It is the absolute coolest piece of retro gear, but it has some problems.

1. The turntable is shot.
2. The radio works, but has a couple minor issues with volume control.

Anybody have an idea on where to look for parts/help/whatever?

I've got some Elvis  records that need to be played on this thing.

Gerry,

Try and find a similar model where those components are good, but others are shot.

Often common motors, belts, etc. were used in a variety of models.

We still have my wife's first console stereo. Plays records great.

Gotta love pop-crackle-hiss....

p.s. how did the move go?? Still got that Badger???

Mike, the move went very well, and the springs got me before we left.

Good idea on looking for similar units. I'm also thinking about just looking for a turntable that will work and swapping them out, or possibly converting it to a CD changer (but I'm not sure if that will work or not).

The Badger got traded when there was something else I desperately needed, you know the drill. ;)

Sorry to butt in guys, but I noticed this question...

If you have issues with the volume control skipping or scratchy, you can clean it with WD-40. Spritz the control very lightly to prevent overspray, and then work it through it's full range several times. Please be sure to unplug the stereo first. This is a trick taught to me by old & cantankerous instructors.

ABS, you're not butting in, that's just the kind of help I was looking for. I'll give it a try, thanks!

Hello Geraldo
You might want to check with this store Audio Oasis.
They are located in Toronto and specialize in vintage stereo equipment. Hope that helps.

I've got a 29+ yr old Marantz reciever that I have to do the same thing to every once in a while. It works great for me.
