I'm new to the forum and had a quick question.

Is the ratweiler chopper from the new line the same as the ratweiler that was previously sold? The blade configurations look a little different to me.

Thanks in advance for all replys.

Hi Bwilson,

Welcome to the forum!!

The new Ratweiler has been redesigned. There are differences in both the shape of the blade and the handle. I'm trying to wait patiently for the new ones to be released. I'm very curious how they'll compare in performance.

I hope that you stick around! The wait is always made a little easier with good conversation. :D

I'll try to find some decent comparison pics...:D

Wow...that was easy! One of the members on Rat Chat has already put a comparison picture together.

Here you go, bro! :D

Thanks for the quick reply.
To my eye the '04 model has a "better" shape to it. Hopefully the shape of the new model will enhance it's performance.

They do feel like very different knives. I like my old RW a lot but the new RW feels a lot like a Busse Fusion Steel Heart. Both have very positive points.

I don't think you would be disappointed in either.

Does anyone know if there is a difference in blade size between the two?
I'm trying to figure out If I could make the new version fit my spec ops survival sheath, after I re-formed the insert of course.

The blade appears to be an inch or so longer. That's about the size of a FSH, which won't fit in spec ops sheaths.

How could you be disappointed with a Rat Weiler? Well other than not having one, but soon (relatively speaking) they will be out and infesting your homes, corrupting your young, influencing them to do bad things:D

I can't wait to get my hands on one. A friend has one and I fell in love with it.
No, I mean I really fell in love with it. Don't tell my wife.

A woman can keep you warm
When it's cold out.
A Ratweiller begs me to use it
When it's new.

A man can sing his songs of love
With either at his side.
But I've never had a Swamp Rat
Break my heart.

Yes and I will buy one of these new ones there shape really appeals to me. Maybe get some custom handles put on there:D.

I like both , actually I find the handle grip more desirable on RW-04 . But I like the blade cut design on RW-06.
And that combo would sit real pretty with tan scales and a satin finish .
my dream or .02:D

Both of the knives are different beasts in the same way FSH and SH-E are. Anyone who missed the boat on FSH , the new Ratweiler will be more than qualified to hit the spot.

Seems to be how their business plan goes. As Busse pushes out something new, they recycle a very similar design (particularly blade shape), and that seems to be the same for Scrapyard. Got get the that ROI.
