This is from 2002 or so when Don was making these crazy pieces. I just acquired this one after years of lusting over it- at the expense of my gold coin collection. There are other photos out there but I like to bug Coop as much as possible, its the price he has to pay for doing what he loves. =) Thanks.

The walrus fighter under it is not an old knife but one that was made a few years ago and never received a pro image.

Enjoy.

I LOVE that folder! You are a fortunate man, Jon Brand!

That Damascus is beyond my comprehension, crazy talent. I really love that fighter style .

Gosh!! i LOVE the straightforward style of Hanson's bowies...also the sunfish mark is very nice :) the choice of a pacific sign on a lethal blade makes for a striking contrast that i like very much!

It is always nice when one is able to acquire a piece that has been desired for many years. I hope they both give you many years of enjoyment.

And IMO Coop did an exceptional job on the pictures, especially the folder.

Congrats!

There's a LOT of awesomeness DH3 going on in this thread.

Time for some education, Don: This is an early folder with your trademarked Goblins® damascus. ;) Tell us when you made the first batch, and what it took to come alive.

That's crazy stuff.

Coop

Congratulations on scoring the DHIII's. Both are wonderful, but that walrus fighter has so much of everything that's perfect going on. I love how Don gets away with exposed ends on his ivory. That is one of my favorite of Don't fighters. Thanks for sharing them.

Chris

Coop, That is some of the first Goblins® or Scary damascus... I started making the individual images in 2000 and have been combining them & new images in different combinations ever since. It works very good with my style of folders, but I don't care for it in my fixed blades.

That fighter is a favorite of mine.

Thanks Jon, Coop & all for the good words. Much appreciated!

Actually the first of this type of mosaic damascus I made was with Cliff Parker, when he spent a week here in 2000 right after the Blade Show. We made a good pile of it and split it. That was a hell of a good time for sure! :D

There's few makers who create both folders and fixed-blades to this degree of excellence.
Congrats Jon on your acquisition of these truly fine knives.

Nice score, but for me, I like DHIII when it's simple steel in pinned slip joint :), like the one in my pocket:).
