I got a bottle sort of like that once, but the liquid inside didn't really taste like Scotch.

I'll have one with you mang,,,, but I'm drinkin jim beam black ( not even close to what yer having but still pretty good)

Remember ... you asked.:D

To me, this is a very light and soft whisky (so 'medium' for most). The aroma is clean with some flowery notes (not heather, though) and some citrus notes (some folks say it has lemon notes in it). This not a rich, complex, or 'chewy' single malt ... instead, it is a refreshing single malt. A bit like glenlivet in that regard, but not as grassy. Very little after-taste.

I don't often want water or ice with single malt, but I think Speyburn benefits from just a bit of ice.

The biggest benefit? It does not cost an arm and a leg.;) And it is a genuine dram!

Yes! I've got an old copy around here somewhere...:)

The 'semi-pro' nature of the review is deliberate -- reading stuff like Murray helped me assemble my own thoughts into something I could communicate.:D

I know what you mean, I usually can just think, "whiskey good",,, sort of caveman style, lol.

I have a 2005 whiskey bible, and I have to admit that I didn't really know anything about whiskey till I started reading it. I like to think its helped me appreciate whiskey more, and I find myself referring back to it pretty regularly.
I'm thinking about buying a 2011 edition.
