To me, this is a very light and soft whisky (so 'medium' for most). The aroma is clean with some flowery notes (not heather, though) and some citrus notes (some folks say it has lemon notes in it). This not a rich, complex, or 'chewy' single malt ... instead, it is a refreshing single malt. A bit like glenlivet in that regard, but not as grassy. Very little after-taste.
I don't often want water or ice with single malt, but I think Speyburn benefits from just a bit of ice.
The biggest benefit? It does not cost an arm and a leg.And it is a genuine dram!
Had a chance to buy ome JB Blue and some other duty free stuff
I like what we have!
Nothing like JWB fresh from the Chinese distillery.![]()
that sounded like a professional review! also makes me want to look for a bottle next time I'm at the liquor stoe
BTW, ever heard of jim murrays whiskey bible?

Yes! I've got an old copy around here somewhere...
The 'semi-pro' nature of the review is deliberate -- reading stuff like Murray helped me assemble my own thoughts into something I could communicate.![]()
