IMG_1853.JPG IMG_1855.JPG IMG_1856.JPG Just got one from a fellow bf member....
Touched up the edge, went out, used it....
Thoughts.... I don't think I'd want the new style... when pushed to heavy chop I can half grip the rear to get a good momentum/arc then let it slam under its own weight loosely holding as it hits, it's substantial weight allows it to perform very well in this fashion, sans the weight I doubt it would have done as well
For smaller stuff the momentum with just a little swing easily did the job
Other blade profiles may perform better for competition chopping events but for general land "clearing" this seemed to work quite well
The edge maintained better than it though it would under fairly heavy use
The largest chop was about 6 inches around, dead/dry/hardened not rotten was tough but manageable

I am going to go after an original mmd one day, until then I’ll be content with my thinner infi model! as soon as it ships:(

Yeah the prospect of infi is very compelling!
I may need to go there some day as well, experimenting can't hurt, over than the wallet

Its weight is what makes it such a great piece, isn’t it? No cutting grass with this blade, for sure. Sr-77 is one of the toughest steels on earth—you will have a hard time getting any serious damage to this blade.
