Here is a set that is a little different than my normal "tacticals". I wanted to make something heavy duty, but with a tribal old school feel. Osage is probably my favorite hard use wood and I think it fits well on these. I gave both the belt knife and hawk tapered tangs, scalloped and scorched the osage and then added bamboo cord wrap for some grip. The hawk is 4140 and the belt knife is 1095. I still need to do sheaths, I haven't totally decided on leather or kydex.
Anyway, let me know what you guys think.

Really like it Ben. Would love to see you taper the tang on more of the hawks too.

The tangs on my hawks are already skeletonized, so it only shaves a couple ounces tapering it. But I agree it looks way cooler.
Thanks for the kind words!

that's good stuff.

Yeah, sorry. I should have been more thorough in my comment. I know you skeletonize, which is great, and I know it's not always practical to taper as it does create a lot more work, and so cost to the end buyer. For me it's just an aesthetic thing as you noted. I think it looks awesome :)

Was looking at this set again on the other board, it really looks great. And for whatever it's worth I would go leather probably, but if you go kydex, a coyote kydex. I don't think black would be best suited to it.

Thanks guys. I agree leather looks best, but you cant beat the utility and durability of kydex, especially for the hawk. I have some Chocolate brown kydex I may use. Of course a buyer can always request leather as well. :)
