Here is a set that is a little different than my normal "tacticals". I wanted to make something heavy duty, but with a tribal old school feel. Osage is probably my favorite hard use wood and I think it fits well on these. I gave both the belt knife and hawk tapered tangs, scalloped and scorched the osage and then added bamboo cord wrap for some grip. The hawk is 4140 and the belt knife is 1095. I still need to do sheaths, I haven't totally decided on leather or kydex.
Anyway, let me know what you guys think.

Nice set, I really dig the belt knife. I must say though I haven't seen anybody do that "scallop" style with wood though. I always presumed the wood would be more prone to splintering.

They're beautiful and I really like them. The thickness of these tools is great and I love the tapered tangs. I only wish the toe of the 'hawk wasn't rounded back so far. That makes it look worn out.

Very nice Ben. I bet the tapering makes it perfect. The spike on the Peregrine looks very efficient too.

Thanks very much for the kind words guys!!

That is some great work.

A Tomahawk and Knife combo should officially be called a "Magua" after the bad guy in "Last of the Mohicans"

Thanks very much for the comments guys!

Great work Ben! Thats a mean little set. Did you use a disc sander to taper?

Just the 2x72 and then trued up on a granite surface plate. If your are careful and your platen is flat, you can do 99% on your belt grinder.
