I have come across an old Schrade auto in my Father-in Law's stuff...it's about 3 3/8 in long with 2 blades it measures 7 1/4 when both blades are extended the last of three pat. dates is June 1916. It is black handle with ivory looking swirls. Both blades extend 100 % when opened.there is no play in the small blade and only slight movement in the large blade when extended...there is slight oxidation on both blades , but no rust anywhere on the knife..the push buttons and locks work very smooth...not knowing any better of the condition I would say it's in (good to very good condition)..the blades appear to have been sharpened only a few times can anyone tell me if it has any collection value .

It seems to me that we are getting more and more "knives for sale" ads in this subforum. Over in traditional I would get (and have had) my hands slapped.

Hi Roney - Welcome to the forum!!

If your Father-In-Law has passed away, my condolences.

Sounds like a really nice older knife.
I think you got good responses as to value and history in your other posts in 3 other forums. Your post here indicates you're looking for more info. Is there something more specific you'd want to know about your knife?

To sell on bladefourms, you'd upgrade your membership and go to the For Sale by Individuals area http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php/681-For-Sale-by-Individuals

Sorry I'm a newbe. so I am just learning the rules...thanks for the info I'm sure it will help later on in my old life

Thanks ..no my FIL is still kicking at 91...we had to move him somewhere where they can take care of him he remembers things that happened 50 years ago ,but can't remember what he did yesterday I would like to know approx age of the knife if possible and how rare or unrare it is Thanks Ron

Check the tang stamp on the main blade. If the "SCHRADE" is arched over "CUT.CO.", it dates from 1904 to 1928. Those are quite rare. If the "SCHRADE" is in a staight line above the "CUT.CO." it dates from 1930 to 1948, and seems to be more common. That's what all but one of mine are. If it is just "SCHRADE" above "WALDEN" without the "CUT.CO.", it dates from 1948 to 1973, although I believe they stopped making them after the Switchblade Act of 1958.

This is the 1930 to 1948 tang stamp.
